As Vice President in StrategyOne’s Washington office, Sparky provides strategic analysis and communications guidance to clients in fields as varied as transportation, alternative energy, technology, entertainment, litigation, healthcare, finance and defense. He leads the Washington office’s Insights group and oversees StrategyOne’s flagship public affairs product, the Beltway Barometer.
Sparky’s regular clients include GE, Wal-Mart, Boeing, MASDAR, Shell, the Motion Picture Association of America, Nissan, DuPont, Pfizer, and Microsoft.
As a professionally trained focus group moderator, Sparky has conducted over 125 focus groups and has been certified as an advanced moderator from the renowned RIVA Institute. Sparky has also been trained in Conjoint and Discrete Choice Modeling techniques at the Burke Institute.
In addition, Sparky is a guest lecturer at American University’s School of Communication discussing various applications of opinion and market research in successful communications campaigns in both undergraduate and graduate level courses.
Prior to joining StrategyOne, Sparky was awarded a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health’s Laboratory of Neuropsychology. While there, he wrote upon cognitive and behavioral memory encoding and recall methods, as well as memory awareness. This research resulted in the publication of multiple research articles featured in prominent scientific journals.
Sparky holds a graduate certificate in Survey Design and Data Analysis from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, as well as a Bachelor of the Arts degree, with distinction, in Psychology from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
While at Kenyon, he assisted in the teaching of several research methodology courses for the department of psychology. Research he conducted independently on coping methods and their effects on learning and performance earned him membership in the international research society Sigma Xi.
Sparky currently lives with his wife Mandy and son Oliver in Catonsville, Maryland.
