Employee Engagement

At StrategyOne, we believe that any organization is only as good as the individuals that compose it. Employee engagement is thus a critical factor for the continuing success of the enterprise.

Why Employee Opinion Research?

  • Ensure a communications campaign is as resonant internally as it is externally.
  • Identify and maximize core capabilities using insights gained from your staff.
  • Maintain a high-quality work environment.
  • Quantify personnel opinions, attitudes, perceptions and ideas.
  • Leverage your employee base as a grassroots communications channel.

Our extensive experience conducting employee studies on both a local and global scale has taught us that there are several steps necessary to ensure a successful employee engagement program.

Our Best Practices:

  1. Align the survey to the mission and objectives
  2. Know how high to set improvement targets – benchmarking to know how to measure progress
  3. Keep the survey short – long surveys waste employees’ time without adding additional insight
  4. Ask about the good and the bad – some of the best data comes from these questions: “What’s the one thing you hope never changes?” and “If you could chance one thing about working here what would it be?”
  5. Connect everything back to the purpose, not just the operations – it is important to link change in perception to change in behavior and the organization’s success
  6. Examine the survey at multiple levels – engagement is only as strong as the local manager, so it is important to examine local level data by business unit and manager
  7. Have an action plan – ensure that the data is acted upon at the executive level by conducting executive workshops to develop team action planning
  8. Stress the importance of training and change management in driving progress
  9. Do not make engagement about an event – building long-term sustainability involves continuous discussions between employees and supervisors
